Soulcycler for Schools

About Soulcycler School Slideshows

Are you ready to bring the world to your school?

Then get ready to book writer-photographer-adventurer Rick Gunn for his presentation “Soulcycler, Words And Images From a 25,811-Mile Bicycle Journey Around-The-World.” “Soulcycler” combines 350 breath-taking photos from 33 countries, set to music, accompanied by a selection of uniquely emotional stories from around the globe. Inspired by a series of formative experiences during his childhood, Gunn delivers a front-row seat to the pursuit of his lifelong dream of cycling the planet.

Ultimately transformed by scenes of war, poverty, and disease along the way, Gunn begins dedicating his journey to the greater good, expanding his defintion of what it means to care, to give, and to love. Whether reporting from an orphanage in Nepal, volunteering in an AIDS Hospice in Thailand, Covering Bomb extraction and mine victim rehabilitation in Laos and Vietnam, to simply planting trees in Borneo, “Soulcycler” delivers a first hand account the realization of a dream, the current state of the planet, and what it means to care.

Adapting different versions of the show cover a range of students and topics, Rick has delivered varying versions of “Soulcycler” to students from Elementary, middle and high school, as well as college. Exposing young minds to the cultural landscapes of the world, current world issues, sustainability, environmental conservation, tolerance, volunteerism and service to others, the show concludes with an in-depth question and answer session.

Throw this all together with the adventure of a 26,000-mile bicycle adventure around the globe and I would venture to say that I have a program that is not only unique and pertinent, but vital.

The fee for school shows is $350.00. Travel fees apply to schools outside the Reno-Tahoe areas, (please call to discuss.)

Heres what students and educators have written about past “Soulcycler” school presentations:

“I really liked your presentation a lot it made me reconsider how I am living my life and think about what I really want to do in the future. What you did was really amazing and I consider you someone I would definitely look up to. I think to make a trip like that and go through what you did you have to be brave and your very brave. I hope your book goes good and I look forward to being able to buy it when you finish. Thank you very much for coming and talking to us. Have a nice day.

-Sarah Combs, Junior

“It’s amazing… how we Americans can overlook so many parts of the world too easily. To become aware of these situations and hear so many inspiring stories not only awes me, but also develops a desire to get involved and help these suffering people.”

-Jamie Showalter, Senior

“I loved the presentation. I was amazed at how much just one person can accomplish and how little we know about other people. It inspired me to help as much as I can in my lifetime and to appreciate what I have. Thank you so much!”

-Annie Miller, Sophomore

“By the time you get this email you’ll be home already. Hope your flight back to Reno went well.  Just want to let you know that you left a powerful impact on my students today.  We had some great discussions later in the day and they all felt your story was ‘awesome’ and ‘powerful’ on many different levels.  Also, thanks for taking the  time to speak to my small class as well.  That turned out to be a wonderful discussion and very insightful for the kids as well. It was a pleasure spending a few days with you Rick.”
